Your Right to Data Deletion

At Hemistich, we respect your right to control your personal data. You can request complete deletion of all data associated with your account at any time. This page explains how to do so.

What Data We Store

When you use Hemistich, we may store the following data linked to your WhatsApp phone number:

  • Profile Information: Your WhatsApp phone number and display name
  • Academic Data: GPA calculations, course information
  • Reminders: Scheduled reminders and their content
  • Resources: Files and materials saved to your resource vault
  • Usage Statistics: Anonymized interaction data
  • AI Cache: Cached responses for common queries (not personally identifiable)

How to Request Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your data through any of the following methods:

Method 1: Via WhatsApp (Recommended)

Open your chat with Hemistich on WhatsApp

Send the message: /delete-my-data

Confirm the deletion when prompted

You will receive a confirmation message once deletion is complete

Method 2: Via Email

Send an email to privacy@hemistich.com

Subject line: "Data Deletion Request"

Include the phone number associated with your Hemistich account

We will process your request within 30 days and confirm via email

What Happens After Deletion

Once your data deletion request is processed:

  • All personal data linked to your phone number is permanently removed from our database
  • All files stored in your resource vault are permanently deleted
  • All reminders are cancelled and removed
  • Your GPA history and academic records are erased
  • Usage analytics linked to your account are anonymized
  • Cached AI responses that are not personally identifiable may be retained

There is a 30-day grace period. When you delete your account you are signed out immediately and it stops working straight away, but we keep your data for 30 days first. That exists so an accidental deletion can be undone. We will tell you the exact date your data is erased.

To recover your account within those 30 days, message us on WhatsApp or email support@hemistich.com and we can restore it exactly as it was.

After 30 days, deletion is permanent. Your data is erased and cannot be recovered. You are free to start using Hemistich again after that, but you will begin with a fresh account.

Processing Time

  • Via WhatsApp: Account closed immediately; data erased after the 30-day grace period
  • Via Email: Within 30 days

Data Retained After Deletion

In some cases, we may retain minimal data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes:

  • Anonymized, aggregated usage statistics (cannot be linked back to you)
  • Records required for legal compliance or dispute resolution
  • Abuse prevention records (if your account was flagged for violations)
